N2 - This article presents the experience of the Electrical Engineering Department of the University of Los Andes in design teaching and related topics. Description is given to the evolution from basic design courses and socalled project-courses up to the implementation of "Talleres" which correspond in the main to "Studio Design" or "Atelier", in the last curricular reform. The concepts apply to all areas of intensification in electrical engineering, but the ateliers are described from electronics, microelectronics and bioengineering experiences.
